On Time, Space and Letting Go with Sara Crampton

Long before fashion influencing became an industry, Sara Crampton was quietly carving out a distinct point of view online. As the woman behind Harper and Harley and later the founder of The UNDONE, she became known for an instinctive, less-is-more approach to style. One built around restraint, longevity and knowing what feels like you.

These days, that same sense of refinement seems to extend beyond the wardrobe. A mother of three, including twins, Sara is entering a season with a deeper appreciation for time, space and the simple pleasure of having nowhere to be.

We spoke with Sara about slow mornings and ocean swims, letting go of past versions of herself, and why a beautiful life ultimately comes down to not rushing, having choice and being present with the people you love.

Where is your favourite place to wake up in the world?

My parents-in-law have a beautiful property in the hinterland of Byron Bay and it’s where my husband and I got married. It faces east so the sun rises and hits the windows of the bedrooms and you can see it shine through the trees and grassy hills. Birds are singing, and you can hear the cows, horses and goats at the neighbouring properties make all their morning noises while the day is still quiet.

What is bringing you comfort lately?

Having more time. I have three children with the youngest being twins, and we have just entered a new phase where I get a little more time to myself, which I appreciate.

Describe your ideal slow morning.

I have threeyoung children so my ideal slow morning would be waking up naturally while they are still asleep, sitting outside in the morning sun with a homemade matcha and just being with my own thoughts before I need to step into my role as mum. Then not rushing to school drop offs or extra curricular activities, just at home with nowhere to be.

What helps you return to yourself?

Long walks and swimming in the oceanhelp dissolve tension and help me find the solution, new ways of looking at things or a release I need.

What is one ritual you rarely skip?
I’m not sure if I have any rituals I do every single day, but my favourite is when I get to take in the sky. Either at sunrise or sunset or when the moon and stars are out. Stepping outside and looking up is something we should all do more of.

What does deep rest look like to you?

Consecutive sleep. One night of a good sleep here and there isn’t enough. It’s when you can sink into that deep sleep more so than not. Also a day time nap can be incredibly restorative when you need to play catch up.

What are you learning to let go of?

Past versions of myself.

What does a beautiful life mean to you?

Not rushing. Having choice. And being in the moment with people you love.

What book would you pack for a quiet weekend away?

I’m currently reading Joan Didion, the year of magical thinking.

What place has stayed with you long after you left?
Paris.

Do you have a favourite quote that represents the current stage of life you are in?

You can do hard things.

What are you craving more of in this season of life?

More time with friends.
